Jupiter Retrograde, 10/4/12 – 01/30/13
Jupiter begins its retrograde motion in Gemini on Thursday, October 4, continuing “backwards” until January 30, 2013. Just like any other retrograde planet (including that trickster Mercury), periods of retrograde are periods of “re:” renewing, reflecting, restarting, etc. Instead of being viewed negatively, these retrograde periods are a positive time to slow down (especially as Jupiter now turns retrograde, and for the next few days) and possibly make some necessary changes.
Jupiter, ruler of Sagittarius and the 9th house, symbolizes luck, fortune, and prosperity, so now is the time to reflect on any sources of frustration in your life caused by these things (or a perceived lack of; perhaps you never feel satisfied with what you have). Now is not the time to start new projects but rather to finish up any Jupiter-related business left unattended. Jupiter in Gemini provides us a time to realize goals by means of communication, and perhaps this is what needs to be re-evaluated (again with the “re”) with certain aspects of our financial lives.
Pay attention to what house in your chart Jupiter stations retrograde in, as that is where you will be most impacted (depending on the house, the focus of your re-assessments could be money, relationships, career, etc.). Use this time to gain insight and grow, making plans for the changes you will make when Jupiter goes direct on January 30.
Felt the building of this for the last 6 weeks, the shadow layers of my clients being revealed and the truth of ones Soul asking to rise above all.
I’m a Sag and have felt the slowing down of my life take place almost immediately on the Autumn Equinox, what a beautiful presence! As you know, we Sag’s love, love, love to travel and with this complete halt to being present in one place to serve the many is a great challenge and gift all at the same time.
Love your article, thank you for articulating it in it’s simplicity.
Blessings,

booo..my natal Jupiter is in the fourth house (home and family), and I’m already in the middle of a delayed apartment move. I’m staying with family until it gets worked out…and now it looks like it will be February before I can move on with my life! ^_^;;
Um.. what does it mean if it’s retrograding over my Natal Jupiter? Double lots of luck huh!! :)And natal jupiter is conjunct NN, so I think I will buy some lotto tickets.

Jupiter or once known as Zeus, is the planet where in your Birth Chart you feel ‘Royal, Blessed, or Kingly’. If it’s placed in the 5th House for example, it could be that you have the golden touch of romance, seduction and creative expressions. If in the 10th you will feel worthy and as though the red carpet should be rolled out for you when you start that Career in the big glass buildings of the City. If it’s in your 12th House you’ll feel as though you are being watched over by some great spiritual protection this lifetime.
As a result, the Ninth House (ruled by Jupiter) is where the King sits. Making laws by dictation and if he has the peoples voice, communicating them to the villages or communities (captured by the Third House – Mercury Ruled). Despite the 10th House being associated with Saturn and the ruler of the ‘Kingdom of Time’, what I see in this House is the Queen who sits next to Jupiter(Zeus).
The 10th House Capricorn is actually the Matriarch on display, with soft Cancer opposite, it wants to be respected for its wisdom and nurturing advice of the ages. Queen Hera who was the wife of Zeus was somewhat serious, for she knew what mischief the King was getting up to! She seeks advice from her friends and the odd-ball genius types like Merlin (seen in the 11th House). Whereas the King seeks advice from more business focused, mysterious and magic types like the witches/seers from Mythology (seen in the 8th House).
Jupiter Retrograde makes us reflect on our own greatness, but with this retrograde being in Gemini, the reflecting time may not be very long – so best observe what is happening around you in your community to see where you can refine the style of your ‘great’ communication abilities.
