Magickal Powers

Nearly all magickal groups and teachers make the point that the attainment of psychic and magical powers can be an impediment to real spiritual growth. But, is that really true? If the object of the Great Work is integration with the Higher Self to become more than we are, we have to presume the accompaniment of such powers and skill as natural to the Whole Person.

Jesus said "ye are Gods . . . these things I do ye shall do and even greater." To me, that reads as both prophecy and promise; He doesn't say we will become gods but that we are gods who will do miracles. As we grow in Wholeness, our latent powers become skills we can perform at will. We refer to this as "Self-Empowerment" because it is not given to us by others, nor do we have to be Christian for this to happen. On the other hand, merely having psychic powers does not make us a spiritually powerful person who has become Whole.
