Imbolc Altar and Offerings
Tarot Rituals: Ceremonies, Ideas & Experiences for the Tarot Lover by Nancy Antenucci is a long-awaited book by one of tarot‘s most experienced and creative ritual creator. This work is rich in information on forming a relationship with the archetypes of tarot and using the power therein to shape your life. Nancy provides a foundation but leaves space for your creativity and intuition, and for the sacred, to unfold around and within you. Some of the rituals are deceptively simple, others more complex. Over the next few months, we’ll share some of the simple rituals.

Imbolc is approaching, so we are sharing an abbreviated version of Nancy’s Imbolc ritual.

Imbolc Ritual Setup

Randomly draw one card from the suit of Wands for each of the four directions and lay them out with room for you to sit in the middle. Bring your major arcana cards with you.

Imbolc Journey

“I stand at the beginning of a labyrinth. * I can’t see the center but trust that I will be led there. * As I follow the various twists and turns, the scenery evolves into a fantastic landscape of evocative statues and hedges. * I let go of control to enjoy the discoveries and symbols along the way. * [Draw a major arcana card.] * The chosen Divine Ally makes itself known to me. * They join me. * I am comforted by their support as I feel the last wave of the darkness and heaviness of the winter. They communicate about the safekeeping of my well-being, especially the boundaries needed currently. * We eventually come to a place to rest. * I thank them. They slip into liminal space. * [Draw a major arcana card.] * The second Divine Ally approaches. * I need to adjust to their energy because I feel all the potential of my life in their presence. * We continue the path of the labyrinth. * The path becomes one of many lights. * The Divine Ally communicates about the ways that I add light in this world. * In the distance I can see the center. The third Divine Ally is waiting for me there. * [Draw a major arcana card.] * With that sighting of the new guide, my current companion disappears. * I make my way to center with a renewed sense of being loved. * The path pours into this central point. The entire area has an electric charge as I step into it. * I take my place next to this third Divine Ally. * A wave of healing energy rises up through my feet. The energy is being directed by the Divine Ally. * I feel a new self within, vulnerable yet invincible. * A sense of calm confidence fills me. * This Divine Ally communicates how this new self will appear in the world. * They place the remaining wands suit in my hands as they depart. * I too leave this magnificent center to return to the starting point. * Some of these wands will speak to the process I will need for the rest of the year. * I choose wand cards along the way whenever I feel the impulse, keeping the order of the sequence of the selection.”
