Llewellyn Decks and Books Recognized as The Best in Tarot 2012

We are super excited to announce that several Llewellyn Tarot books, decks, and authors have been recognized as some of the best in Tarot for 2012!

The Steampunk Tarot, by Barbara Moore & Aly Fell

Each year, TarotProfessionals.com (run by Marcus Katz & Tali Goodwin) asks several thousands of Tarot students, enthusiasts, teachers, artists, designers, developers, collectors, and authors, to nominate and vote for the people, decks, books, and media that have shone throughout the year as winners of the Tarosophists Awards.

Of note this year:
Deck of the Year:
The Steampunk Tarot, by Barbara Moore and Aly Fell

In open and popular vote, the Steampunk Tarot easily won the category for Best Tarot Deck for 2012. In addition to a wonderful companion guide and excellent design and art, this deck bridged into another genre and community to popular acclaim. As a result, it demonstrated how Tarot can provide a mutual language and open itself to other perspectives and communities. Its accessibility and popularity belie the amount of consideration and work which created this deck. It was also a deck that was created with advanced engagement with the audience, through a series of Blog and Facebook postings—a trend likely to continue into 2013 and beyond through social media.

Young Tarosophist of the Year (for any individual age 18-29 who has made a significant contribution to Tarot over this year):
Kim Huggens

Kim, author of Tarot 101 (pub. Llewellyn) has this year produced an incredible amount of work, teaches regularly, and presented at the Tarosophy TarotCon (UK) alongside Barbara Moore and Mary K. Greer. Her experience, style and knowledge is unsurpassed for her age-group, and she brings unique elements into Tarot exploration from Improv and Roleplaying elements. Her work is of the consistent and professional quality that she was chosen this year to write the companion guide to the Tarot Illuminati, already a likely strong contender for Deck of the Year in 2013.

The Tarot Lady 

In her last “best of” compilation, The Tarot Lady Theresa Reed also gave a hat’s off to Llewellyn. Her list included: 

Best Tarot Deck:

Steampunk Tarot. There’s a reason why so many people fell in love with this deck from artist Aly Fell and writer Barbara Moore. Gorgeous art, and a solid, well written book make this deck a hell yeah! No wonder this sold out immediately at the conferences.

Best Tarot Artist:

I have to give the nod this year to Aly Fell of the Steampunk Tarot. ‘Nuff said.

Best Tarot Book:

Tarot Spreads: Layouts & Techniques to Empower Your Readings, by Barbara Moore. This was an easy choice for me—learning how to make your own tarot spreads is an art. Moore makes it simple and fun with tips and techniques that helps even those of us who think we are not creative types. Honorable mention: I’ve also been enjoying Tarot Face To Face by Marcus Katz and Tali Goodwin—this book is a great resource for those who wish to develop their skills to the next level.
