A term most often used to mean "living forever" or "without end." The original meaning, however, is "outside of time;" that is, not limited by our physical universe that is constrained by time and space. Thus, the popular expression that "God is eternal" does not mean "God lives forever." Rather, it means that God exists outside of time and space. Therefore, God could choose to appear in our physical universe at any time or place in the past, present, or future. For all practical purposes the saying would appear to us to indicate that God lives forever, when it actually means that God is not limited by time or space.
