Earth Day Ritual

Color of the day:  Black
Incense of the day:  Pine

The original Earth Day was celebrated on the Vernal Equinox in 1969. Now April 22 is celebrated as Earth Day by various groups and communities around the world. Begin the day with this ritual, and then go out and do something for the environment.

The Earth is your home,
It needs your care.
The environment begs:
Take care, take care.

Nurture me and clean my rivers,
Clean my land and sea.
I give you life and food to eat;
I give you shelter and spirit relief.

Be gentle with me,
Take care what you do,
Or I will die,
And so will you.

Dedicate yourself to be,
A healing force for what's given to you.
Your course is set, my duty clear,
Recycle and reuse all the year.

I am the Earth,
Bearer of generations yet to be.
Bless my body by planting a tree,
I promise it will nourish thee.

I bless all creatures With water pure.
Cease your pollution,
so all may endure.

Bless my environment with your love and will,
I can be healthy still.

Each Day I give life to thee,
So dedicate this day to healing me.

So mote it be.
