Shakespeare made famous this ancient Roman date-the Ides of March. At this time of the year the Romans celebrated the festival of Anna Perenna, Roman goddess of the New Year. From her name, we derive the words "annual" and "perennial." In ancient Rome, the meaning of New Year was twofold. It was a review of the year just passed and a time to plan for the year ahead. To harness today's energies from Anna Perenna's festival, identify one thing you would like to bring into your life. This could be a hobby, a new job, or more friends. Write your goal on a piece of paper, along with these words:

This is what I wish to sow
With this seed, my goal will grow.
