Aestas, goddess of summer, is honored today with flowers and sheaves of corn. This spell using the magical traits of corn and the waning of the Moon offers protection from accident and injury as we go off on summer holidays now. Light a new white candle and make a pan of corn-bread as follows:

1 1/2 cup flour
2/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup cornmeal
1 tbl. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 cups milk
2 eggs, beaten
1/3 cup oil
3 tbls. melted butter

Mix together ingredients, visualizing the blessings of Aestas. Bake in a greased eight-by-eight-inch pan in a 350 degree oven for eighteen to twenty minutes. Gypsies carry a piece of cornbread in their pockets to ensure safe journeys.
