This is the season for building a fire and enjoying some time by the hearth. Fires also play an important role in spell-casting. To increase the power of a ritual fire, consider the magical meanings of the following woods.

Apple: Burn applewood when working love, past-life, or fertility spells.
Ash: Ash burns very hot. Use when you need to add energy to a spell.
Birch: Burn to connect with the Goddess.
Hawthorn: Burn to fulfill a wish, or to work with the fairy realm.
Hickory: An excellent wood to burn if you need to break a curse.
Maple: Burn for peace and prosperity.
Oak: Burn during health and fertility spells, or to connect with the God.
