With the crops cleared, the deer, rabbits, pheasants, quail, and other animals are easy to see as they roam through the fields looking for food. Thus, the Full Moon after the Harvest Moon is called the Hunter's Moon. Other names include Blood Moon, Travel Moon, and Dying Grass Moon. Hunting for food is an ancient and honorable tradition, pitting the hunter's wits and skill against the prey's cunning and speed. Magic to aid hunting ranks among the oldest of human activities. This charm attracts prey within range. You need some cracked corn, and a talisman of leather, bone, antler, feather, etc. from the type of animal you wish to hunt. For the three nights of the full Hunter's Moon, go into the woods or fields and pour out a handful of corn. Hold the talisman in your dominant hand and say:

As it was, it remains today:
Death feeds life,
And life honors death.
Come to me, my prey!
I will give you a good death,
And praise you
With my breath.

When you hunt, carry the talisman. If you don't hunt yourself, you may cast this spell for a friend.
