Before you talk to anyone with whom you have a quarrel, whether in person, by phone, or e-mail, take a shower or bath (or wash your hands well). As you do, call on Concordia, Roman goddess of harmony and agreement, to help smooth the conversation:
Goddess, sweet Concordia dear,
I ask your guidance in my time of need.
I invite your peaceful presence here,
To guide and bless the words I speak.
May I listen well to what (person's name) says,
May my response be patient and kind,
May I respect (person's name) and myself today,
So that balance and agreement we both shall find.
