Offerings to our Ancestors

Color of the day:  Lavender
Incense of the day:  Rosemary

Columbus Day (observed)

For many, this day is a celebration of the triumph of the human spirit. In historical reality, it commemorates little more than the beginning of the grand theft of this nation and our abject control of it. Offering our national native ancestors all-natural tobacco, corn, honey, sage, and sweet grass is one small way that we can attempt to heal a racial and cultural rift that leaves many natives feeling violated by the mere celebration of this holiday. This humble act of acknowledgment is the very least that we can do! Our modern wealth and security as a nation are founded on the genocide of over 500,000 natives. When we make offerings born of our own shame, we learn to commune as elements of nature and we begin to heal our own negative karma. We become aligned to the cure rather than mindlessly choosing to continue on as the disease!
