Folklore Spell

To honor the folk traditions of your people today, hold a folklore party with friends or family members who share your traditions. Serve traditional foods, and dress in appropriate clothes if you have them. Sing favorite songs about folk heroes or practices. Take turns reciting or reading aloud folktales that you love. Tell your life story as a folktale, with yourself as the protagonist. Discuss or study the customs, superstitions, and folk magic of your people. At the beginning and end of the celebration, and between the various activities, chant this rhyme to help focus energy on the transmission of folklore: "Tell me a story, or sing me a song. Teach me the old ways we've kept so long." This spell makes it easier and more fun to learn folklore. It may be performed at any time of the year, indoors or outdoors.
