LLEWELLYN'S SPELL-A-DAY

Dream a Journey with the Tarot

Color of the day:  Yellow
Incense of the day:  Heliotrope

One of the reasons that famed psychiatrist Carl Jung was fond of tarot was because the images are nearly universal in the Western world. Empresses and priests all figure into tales that many of us grew up with, and those tales have formed assigned meanings. All you need to do to experience those archetypes face to face is to see them and loan them a bit of your will. You can have a tarot adventure in your personal dreamland by pulling the Fool out of the tarot deck and then by choosing the other cards you want to explore, whether that's the Eight of Cups or the Tower, right before bedtime. Spend twenty minutes before you go to sleep picturing yourself as the Fool leaping into the other cards. Carry these imaginings in your mind as you go to sleep. This may take several tries before the imagery builds in your deepest mind.
