POSTED UNDER Cat, Moon

Modresnach (The Mother's Night)

Color of the day:  Indigo
Incense of the day:  Patchouli

A Pagan celebration particularly important in Britain, many symbols and aspects of this festival dedicated to mothers (notably those long dead) were assimilated into Christmastide. One aspect not typically remembered nowadays, however, is the oracular properties of dreams bestowed upon dreamers this night.
To tap into knowledge about events in the coming year, place basil, mugwort, and valerian under your pillow or make a delicate tea of these herbs to ingest just before bedtime.
Create an intention for this work, knowing that your dreams will be especially potent and you may experience lucidity, especially if you are already a solid dreamer. This year, as the New Moon energies combine with the wisdom of the ancient ones, you are in for a real power boost in the dream world. Be sure to have a journal near your bedside on which to record thoughts and remembrances upon waking. And do leave food offerings to thank the spirits of all mothers, preferably placing them under a tree (symbolic of potent lifeforce energy and the coming together of seen and unseen realms).
