Today is Cinco de Mayo, the day on which those of Mexican descent celebrate the outnumbered Mexican army's defeat of the French at the Battle of Puebla. In the United States the holiday is largely celebrated as a day honoring heritage and pride in the Mexican culture.
Many of us live in multicultural communities, and an understanding of our different cultures is important. Many instances of intolerance, whether related to religion, ethnicity, or sexual orientation, stem from lack of understanding. Knowledge is indeed power and that is certainly true magick!
The Virgin of Guadalupe is seen to not only as a patroness of Mexican culture but in addition it is thought that she is a modernized manifestation of Aztec mother goddess Tonantzin. Today make an effort to learn more about Mexican culture. You can say a prayer or light a candle as an offering to Guadalupe for her guidance during your studies.
