Embrace the Darkness

Color of the day:  Gray
Incense of the day:  Ivy

We're hardwired to want light. Light helps us see, and in more dangerous times it could be the crucial factor in getting home safely without attack or accident. However, darkness has its value as well. It's restful, when we feel safe enough, and we can cultivate darkness as a quiet place for magic and meditation.
Spend some time in the dark tonight. Go to a quiet room, and shut out as much of the light as you can. If you're comfortable, go into a closet, or blindfold yourself. Then simply sit in the darkness and see how it changes your perception.
How comfortable do you feel in the dark? Do you notice your other senses more? How does the darkness affect your ability to focus? Try a meditation or other magical activity that you normally would do in the light (provided it's safe to do without being able to see!).
