In ancient Rome, honoring Neptune on this, his sacred feast day, was believed to ensure rainfall and prevent drought from damaging crops. The Romans celebrated this wonderful watery god by having a picnic.
You can enjoy your own Neptunalia outside for lunch or dinner on this day. Brew an infusion made from spring water and three bay leaves. Bless it under the summer sun and sprinkle it over your garden.

Say:
"Mighy Neptune, your triton held high, protect my garden, in this season so dry.
Keep your water flowing to every good root, and in your honor shall it render its fruit."

Enjoy a meal outside in honor of Neptune. If you decide to grill, make sure to drop a small portion into the fire as a sacrifice. Drink spring water or wine, if you choose. Before the sun goes down, give your garden a good soak from the hose.
