Vesta's Favorite Treat

Color of the day:  Silver
Incense of the day:  Lily

In ancient Rome, today marked the beginning of the festival honoring the goddess of hearth and fire, Vesta.
As an offering to her, the priestesses prepared a simple pastry called mola salsa. Here's a way to make it yourself.
Light a red jar candle and place it near the oven. Preheat to 450 degrees F. Mix together 2 cups spelt flour, 1 tablespoon baking powder, 3/4 teaspoon salt, 4 tablespoons margarine, and 3/4 cup soy milk. Knead, adding flour if necessary. Roll out flat and cut out round pieces with a cup.
Arrange on ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes.
As they bake, direct your palms toward the oven and say:

"Vesta, I prepare these pastries in your honor. Please bless them with your loving nurturance and beneficent light."

Place one or more pastries on your altar as an offering to Vesta, and enjoy/share the rest with a spread of your choice.
Tomorrow, bury the offerings, or feed them to the birds.
