Ritual of Honoring Women

Today marks the 166th anniversary of the first women's rights convention in the United States. Take some time to think about all those who suffered in order to win women their rights today, women (and some men!) who changed not only the Unites States, but who changed the world. Watch "Iron Jawed Angels," the story of Alice Paul, through whose courage and determination women finally got the right to vote in the United States.
Hold a deep blue candle while meditating on the female energies of receptivity, endurance, and bear-like protectiveness ... then ponder the male side of protectiveness, too, as well as those of action and drive. Say a prayer of gratitude to the Lord and the Lady, to all the women and men who have paved the way for women, and determine what you will do to keep the road passable to those who follow you.
Now carve a field of stars, embellishing them with some glitter or sparkly paint, if you like, for the dark and light energies that create balance. Light this candle whenever you feel especially grateful for the rights of women everywhere.
