LLEWELLYN'S SPELL-A-DAY

A Thread Spell

Color of the day:  Amber
Incense of the day:  Juniper

It was once believed that on this day, pieces of wool thread left out overnight would protect the wearer from evil. The idea of these "March threads," as they were known, dates back to the Eleusinian Mysteries. This spell is based on this ancient magical belief.
For this spell, you'll need a ceremonial candle and a piece of red wool yarn about a foot long or a little shorter. Begin this spell in the early evening. Light the candle. Hold the yarn before the flame and say:

"Wool thread, colored red,
Please protect me from all negativity."

Now take the yarn outside and tie it to the branch of a shrub. The next morning, wear your yarn tied around your wrist or carry it with you all day. That evening, return the yarn to the same shrub. Hopefully, the birds will use it as nest material.
