Jidai Matsuri

Color of the day:  Turquoise
Incense of the day:  Clove

Jidai Matsuri-or the Festival of the Ages-is celebrated today in Kyoto, Japan, with a parade, which begins with costumes and floats depicting the present era. Each successive wave symbolizes a more distant time period.
In the same spirit, gain perspective and bless your future with this ritual. Close your eyes and experience the present. Look at all the aspects of your life. Assess how you feel, where you are, and what you're working toward. Then move back in time ten years, and repeat. Repeat until you reach early childhood. Next, be your mother as an adult and similarly assess. Do the same with your father. Then be your mother at age five and perform the assessment. Then be your father at age five. Repeat with all four grandparents, and with as many generations as you like. Allow your imagination to fill in any details that you don't consciously know.
