Carmenta Spell for Prophecy

Color of the day:  Yellow
Incense of the day:  Lavender

Today is the first of two feast days for the Roman goddess Carmenta, who is known for her gifts of retrocognition and prophecy. On this sacred day known as Carmentalia, she is invoked by her two epithets, Postvorta and Antevorta. She is given offerings of rice or grain and incense smoke, and is asked to guide us as we look into both the past and the future.

This spell is cast to aid in divination and should be done at dusk or dawn for best results. In a large coffee mug filled with hot water, steep five bay leaves, one cinnamon stick, and half of a small, fresh orange (squeeze the juice over the cinnamon stick, then place the entire half in the mug). Add one tablespoon honey, and as you stir, say the following incantation:

"Carmenta Postvorta, Carmenta Antevorta, She of dream and of hill, awaken now a heightened skill! Prophecy rising, soul set free, as I drink I summon thee!"
