Flowers of May

Color of the day:  Green
Incense of the day:  Apricot

Catholicism dedicates this day to honoring the Virgin Mary. A common observance includes bedecking statues of her with floral garlands. Celebrations can be much more elaborate, such as processions in the Philippines where schoolchildren scatter flower petals and sing and chant prayers to her.

Many Pagans view Mary as simply another manifestation of the Goddess. To celebrate Flores de Mayo, or the "flowers of May," garland a Goddess image of your own, in any of her forms (Mary or otherwise!). Perhaps provide her with some incense and offerings and give thanks to the Great Mother and offer her prayers. Be creative in your expression: sing, dance, drum, chant-however your spirit moves you. Just be sure on this day to offer her the requisite beautiful flowers! Remember, any day is a good day to honor the Great Mother, in any of her forms. Blessed be.
