Day of Divination

Color of the day:  White
Incense of the day:  Thyme

Today marks the International Day of Peace, a time when countries all over the world offer events to promote peace and justice. The image of the scales of justice (the symbol of Libra) is fitting for this day, since the sun will enter that sign tomorrow at the autumnal equinox. You may choose to participate in a demonstration or perhaps take part in a quieter, more personal ritual today.

This calendar date is also traditional for performing divination in old Europe. One German tradition describes young girls making fortunetelling wreaths out of straw and evergreen to mark the midpoint between summer and winter. This middle season is a potent time for reflection. Surrounded by beauty and abundant growth, we prepare for the darker days ahead by harvesting abundance and deciding what will nurture us going forward.

This is a good time to do divination work for the changing seasonal tide. Using your favorite method (runes, tarot, I Ching, etc.), tap into this inbetween time between light and dark, reflecting on balance, justice, and peace and how they affect your path in life.
