Spell to See Nature Spirits

Color of the day:  Gray
Incense of the day:  Bayberry

This day is the old Greek festival of Gaia and the nymphs. These nature spirits are both male and female entities and are known to be beautiful, sensual, and mischievous. Their descriptions from ancient literature inform our modern-day conception of fairies and other beings.

Early autumn is an evocative time, one that often prompts feelings of nostalgia or moments of déjà vu, suggesting that the veil between the worlds is thinning as we approach the Samhain cross quarter.

Find a quiet spot surrounded by nature (a woodland or meadow is ideal) and sit comfortably. Bring a small offering for the spirits and leave it by a tree or stone. Celtic lore says they love fresh dairy products, but you can also leave fruit, candy, or shiny coins. Try not to make sudden movements or noise. Soon you may notice fleeting movements in your peripheral vision or faint sounds like whispering voices or bells. These may be nature beings trying to communicate with you. What are they trying to say?
