Today is Cinco de Mayo, the day commemorating the Mexican army’s victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. In the United States, the holiday has become one of celebrating Mexican-American culture.
It is very easy to form misconceptions about other cultures due to misinformation or a lack of knowledge. Today, celebrate cultural diversity by learning a bit more about Mexican- American culture. Perhaps listen to some traditional Mexican music and learn about the artist, or find a cookbook of traditional Mexican recipes and try your hand at making one.
