Stick on Magic

Color of the day:  Green
Incense of the day:  Balsam

January 13 is Sticker Day, which celebrates stickers of all kinds— from utilitarian labels to the fun and colorful ones that brighten our books, laptops, and vehicles. The date was chosen because it’s the birthday of R. Stanton Avery, who is on record for creating the first commercially viable self-sticking peel-off labels.

Besides helping us label things, mail packages, and decorate things, stickers can also be used for magical means. They can transform and beautify a surface, aiding in glamour magic. A sticker can signify ownership or membership, adding protection or inclusivity. Then there’s the fact that you’re literally affixing it onto something—which may help a certain idea “stick.” You can certainly buy pre-made stickers, but you can also get some adhesive paper and draw your own. The latter method is especially great when drawing sigils that may work best when applied to certain places or objects.
