Connecting with Earth

Color of the day:  Brown
Incense of the day:  Rue

The four elements of earth, air, fire, and water are an important part of a Witchcraft practice. We tend to take these elements for granted, but it’s a good idea to take a moment occasionally to consciously connect with them.

The summer provides many great opportunities to connect with the element of earth. If you are a gardener, you can put your hands in the dirt and say thank you. Or you can take a walk outside, being extra aware of when your feet meet the land. Or simply sit on the grass and feel how grounding it is to be in touch with the earth. If you like, you can say these words:

I reach out to you, element of earth,
And thank you for grounding me,
For providing solid footing for my life,
And for all the growth that
springs from your soil.
I am the earth, and the earth is me.
