Letting Go of the Past

Color of the day:  Blue
Incense of the day:  Patchouli

If there’s something from the past that you’re struggling to release, using magic to achieve that goal can be helpful. You’ll need a piece of paper, a pen, a cauldron or heatproof bowl, a black candle, and some powdered slippery elm.

To begin, write a letter to yourself explaining exactly what you wish to let go of, as if you were your own wise elder or guide. Allow yourself to gain a new perspective on your past, showing yourself the compassion that you may normally reserve for others. Light the candle and read the letter. When done, burn the letter in the cauldron. Sprinkle the slippery elm on the ashes and say:

What’s done is done, but

these ties no longer bind. T

he power fades and new

freedom and peace I find.

For good of all, including me,

as I will so shall it be.

Extinguish the candle and flush the ashes down the toilet.
