Autumn Banishing Spell

Color of the day:  Indigo
Incense of the day:  Sandalwood

Trees are pruned in the autumn and winter so that new growth can flourish in the spring. This cutting helps the tree grow bigger and better in the future. The same can be said for things in life that have run their course. Shedding our past is necessary to make room for new opportunities. Perform this spell to cut away the lingering power of experiences that are no longer serving you so you can bloom in the future.

Bring a tree clipping to your sacred space. Hold it in your hands and visualize the experience that you need to let go of. Allow yourself to feel any emotions that arise, even negative ones. Note how the emotions feel within your body, and direct them through the palms of your hands into the wood and leaves. Eventually the sensation will leave your body and sit heavily within the tree clipping.

Go outdoors and place the clipping on the ground. Say:

I return this to the earth,

to wither, fade, and die.

Walk away. As the plant decays into mulch, so will your attachment to the past
