Heart of the Empress

Color of the day:  Gold
Incense of the day:  Hyacinth

Mother's Day isn't just for those who have birthed children, but also for those who have been a caring guardian figure to others, giving them love, safety, and support. We can honor the living and remember those beloved mother figures who have passed on. We can also pay homage to the Earth in its creatrix energy through deities such as Demeter, Hathor, Pachamama, or Asherah—which can be especially healing for those who don't have a good or healthy relationship with the human mother figure in their lives.

The Empress card in the Tarot embodies mother-creatrix energy. She is all about supporting creativity, generating abundance, playing with sensuality, and recognizing sovereignty. Placing the Empress card upon the altar can aid us in that journey. To draw the essence of the Empress to you, make an offering of fruit, seeds, and/or spring flowers. Take a few moments each day for the next week to reflect upon the Empress, and keep the offerings fresh.
