Saint John’s Day Cleansing Spell

Color of the day:  Ivory
Incense of the day:  Lily

Saint John the Baptist's feast day is celebrated on this day by people of different religions all over the world. Many believe that this holiday is an evolution of Summer Solstice celebrations from pre-Christian people. This may be the case, but there is one religion that has fully embraced the celebration of Saint John's Day, and that is Vodoun.

On Saint John's Day in New Orleans, people gather and celebrate John the Baptist by performing headwashing rituals, which is a traditional cleansing practice performed in the Vodoun religion.

If there is a Vodoun house near you, they often open up their services and offer community head washes for Saint John's Day. If that isn't possible, consider performing a cleansing of your own.

The whole point of the story of Saint John revolves around the concept of baptism. For cleansing on this holy day, go to a body of water and fully immerse yourself as an act of cleansing and devotion to the spiritual world.
