Developing Independence

Color of the day:  Turquoise
Incense of the day:  Balsam

On Independence Day, think of ways to develop your independence. Where do you go, and where haven't you gone that you would like to visit? Consider your current limits and take one step further. This expands what you can do for yourself, rather than relying on others.

For this spell you'll need the edge of a map. This can be an old map or just a printout. Tear off a large corner, about hand-size. In the middle, write some places to which you go. Along the edge, off the map, write places—local or distant—to which you haven't gone. Visualize the journey. Tuck the map into your pocket.

Then go visit one new place locally. If that's unfeasible, research travel to a distant location, not just pretty pictures but concrete steps of how to get there and what to do on location, including any precautions. Keep the map scrap as a reminder to expand the range of where you can go and what you can do.
