Color of the day: Purple Incense of the day: Jasmine Stinging nettle (Urtica dioica) has many uses. An adaptogen, it is great for treating exhaustion, stress, and adrenal fatigue. It enhances growth, stimulates immunity, and is effective against bacterial infection. Eaten as seeds, nettle stimulates feel-good energy. Nettle grows throughout North and South America, Europe, and Asia and prefers stream banks and damp and disturbed land. Now is the time to harvest it. Be sure to first properly identify nettle. You will need a small paper bag on which you have written "Nettle Seeds." Look for brown, ripe seeds, which contain the most concentrated medicinal qualities. Gently pluck the seeds and tuck them in your bag, removing any prickly fiber. Eat a teaspoon of nettle seeds a day, sprinkled on salads, baked into bread and crackers, or eaten with a teaspoon of honey. Ingestion stimulates increased energy and the feel-good neurotransmitters acetylcholine and serotonin. When you need to magically upgrade your energy, reach for "good feeling" nettle seeds. |
