Color of the day: Green
Incense of the day: Balsam This is the last day of Feralia, an ancestor-worship festival; it's the ancient Roman version of the Day of the Dead. Prepare your altar or other special place by arranging votive candles and flowers to honor a loved one who has passed on. If you have no physical reminder of the ancestor you wish to honor, use a photo or simply write the person's name on a piece of paper. Arrange the candles and flowers around the item, photo, or name. Use as many items of remembrance as you like. Or, you can honor several people at the same time by using an object to represent each of them. If you don't have a specific ancestor you wish to honor, meditate on unknown ancestors of your past. Offer thanks to them for the good qualities you possess and ask for strength and courage to overcome or understand any less-than-desirable qualities. |
