Gazing globes were originally used as a tool to protect property from the evil stares of passersby. Garden spirits also love them and are attracted by their shiny surfaces. To charge a gazing globe so it will attract a friendly garden spirit, during a spring or summer Full Moon wash your globe with bottled spring water. Place it in your garden and say: "Gazing globe round as Moon, protect each plant and bloom. With your reflective light, attract fairy and sprite." Then, in the garden near the globe, place an oak leaf, a sprig of ivy, and a fern leaf. Garden spirits will know they are now welcome in your garden. Show your thanks occasionally by leaving a shiny new penny or a sprinkle of bird seed. |
