The spirits of the Earth love nothing more than the lush soil of the gardening season. Their playful energy and devotion to hard work can be an inspiration to us as we begin to twiddle our fingers in the mud again. To draw in these delightful beings, this simple call (best given to a likeness of a gnome along with some milk, honey, and graham crackers) can be repeated each day that work is done in the garden.
Oh keepers of the soil, Spirits of nature's sweet kingdom; I do call on you to aid me, As I work my hands within the earth; Be with me, That my aches and pains may diminish; Guide me as I make my beds in spring, And protect me as I turn them in at the fall; Fill my garden with your abundant productivity, Let love and light flow actively around thee! |
