Today is World Day of Reiki. Reiki is an ancient Japanese technique of energy healing made public by Dr. Mikao Usui. A form of "laying on hands," it entails the Reiki master channeling universal energy into the recipient. It promotes health and soothes many ailments. Reiki is taught in three levels. The master attunes new students using ancient symbols and sounds, enabling them to channel this life force. You can do Reiki for yourself, other people, animals, or even plants. Consider taking a Reiki course or getting a Reiki treatment from an experienced practitioner. Here is a basic exercise in energy work: Sit comfortably and calm your mind. Cup your hands together as if holding a ball. Imagine a sphere of energy forming between your hands. Concentrate on making it stronger and brighter. You may feel a warmth or tingling as it builds. Finally, release the power into the ground.
