Memorial Day (observed)
Memorial Day is an excellent time to remember those who have gone before, whether they fell defending land or loved ones, or from other causes. We are here because of our ancestors and it is important to honor their spirits. Ancestors can be powerful allies once they have fully passed over and received their healing. Here is a ritual for remembering the ancestors: On the ground, make a circle of small stones, which represent the ancestors, known and unknown. Around this, make another circle of salt, indicating you wish to work with healed ancestors who are ready to help. In the center, make a small mound of grain, nuts, or dried fruit that would have been part of your ancestors' natural diet. Invite them to feast on this ritual meal and recite these words to remember them: Old Ones, Great Ones, Wise Ones, and Elders I call upon you to guide me, once your healing is over I remember your wisdom, I remember your ways. Help me and bless me each night and each day. |
