Today the ancient Teutons celebrated St. Vitus's Day with fires honoring the sun. These fires, called need-fires, were built by youthful firemakers who were often required to work naked.
In honor of this tradition, get naked in the sun, safely. Choose a spot in your home where the sun shines where you can lie naked, undisturbed, for a period of time. Spread a cloth, remove your clothing, and lie down. Close your eyes and see the sun's fiery red glow through your eyelids. Feel the energy of the sun soaking into your skin. This solar energy that fuels plant growth also feeds you. Ask yourself "What does my spirit need?" and listen intently for the answer. What do you need to feel safe and happy? Harvest the energy of the bright sun, and envision it feeding, fueling, and growing all that is "needed" in your life. Feed your needs. |
