| As of today, another Mercury retrograde has come to a close. Those who follow astrology tend to believe that retrograde cycles-which are when a planet appears to be moving backward from Earth's vantage point-are times when a planet's influence tends to either turn inward or go awry.
To mark the occasion of Mercury returning to "normal," get a statue of the god Mercury(Roman), Hermes (Greek), or Thoth (Egyptian), all of whom are archetypally related. If needed, simply find a picture or painting of any of these gods and either hang it up or construct an altar. Get a cage-free chicken egg and draw the alchemical symbol for Mercury ( O ) on it with a permanent marker. Standing before the altar or image, become skyclad (nude) and allow yourself to enter a meditative state of mind. Gaze at the statue or image of the deity and repeat the following eight times: "Holy Mercury, cosmic father, I offer you this orphic egg. Please protect me and my loved ones as you exit retrograde." |
