LLEWELLYN'S SPELL-A-DAY

Spell: Persephone's Journey

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

The festival honoring Persephone was held on this day to recognize her descent into the Underworld, but also her eventual return. As night falls, set out your altar in honor of her. You might include whole pomegranates and seeds. The colors of the altar should be garnet and white. You should have two candles at the center, along with your favorite representation of the Death card from the tarot.
Sit in front of your altar and light one of the candles. The unlit candle represents the world that is dark and frozen as Persephone visits the Underworld. Now light the other candle. This represents Persephone's eventual return to the world and the impact her presence has on it. Sit quietly in contemplation of the Death card as a metamorphosis from what was to what will be.
