LLEWELLYN'S SPELL-A-DAY

Spell: Throwing the Turkey Bones

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

Throwing the bones is a traditional Hoodoo means of divination. Chicken bones are most commonly used, but on Thanksgiving Day, think big and work with what's at hand. After your Thanksgiving feast, clean and dry (and paint if you wish) four bones from your turkey: a leg bone, one of the small single bones from one of the wings, the wishbone, and a broken bone of your choice.

Blindfold your querent, and mix and arrange the bones on a table in front of the person. Make predictions based on what he or she selects:

Choose the large leg bone, and big change is afoot.

Choose the small bone, and expect small changes in day-to-day life.

Choose the wishbone-your wish is granted!

Choose the broken bone, and know that something needs to come to an end-perhaps a bad habit or a project that needs finishing.
