Spell: A Spell for Things That Go Bump in the Night

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

We're still in the year's darkest months, and the night can be full of bumps and chills. Protect yourself from disturbances with a charm for peaceful sleep.

Make a simple drawstring bag by sewing a large running stitch around the edges of a five- or six-inch circle of fabric and gathering it into a pouch.

Fill the pouch with a piece of snowflake obsidian (for grounding and protection), a pinch each of mugwort (for dreams) and sage (for peaceful sleep), a few rose petals (for comfort and emotional security), some lavender (relaxation), and a small feather. On a small piece of paper, write BUMP and draw a line through it. Add this to the bag, too.

Tie the bag shut with a piece of string, fastening it with a square knot to invoke elemental protection. Leave the string ends long to trap negative energies. Hang the bag from your headboard or nightstand. Sweet dreams be yours!
