Spell: Spring Garden Blessing

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

As the April sun begins to warm the earth, many of us can be found in our gardens planting seeds and weeding beds. This is a great time to bless your newly upturned plot of earth.

For this blessing we will be invoking Aine, a Celtic solar/lunar goddess and faerie queen. Aine was thought to have birthed the first sheaves of grain in Ireland, and agricultural rites are still practiced in her name.

For this blessing you will need a blue or green tealight candle, a flat stone, and a dish of water.

On a bright sunny morning, go into your garden and light your tealight on a flat stone. Dip your fingers into the water, and as you sprinkle the ground with it, say:

"Aine, lady of light,
Bless this garden, bless this soil.
Bless our hands as they toil.
Bless the land with rain and sun
And a bountiful harvest
when the season's done."

Leave the tealight to burn out.
