Spell: Communicate with a Sylph

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

This spell will assist you in contacting a sylph: an air elemental. Typically, these beings provide clarity of mind, new perspectives, and a general feeling of mental renewal. Invoke them when you feel stuck or are in need of inspiration.

For this spell you will need some resin incense (I prefer black copal), a charcoal-safe incense burner, and some charcoal. Light the charcoal. Ground and center. Face the east, or the direction your tradition associates with the air element. Enter a trance and sprinkle some of the resin on the coal, watching the smoke rise into the air. Call to the sylphs-the conscious beings of the air-to appear in the smoke before you:

"Creatures of the very air,
Reveal here to me your form."

Look into the smoke with the Witch's eye: your inner sight. Allow the sylphs to reveal themselves to you. Once they have, you may commune with them as you wish.
