Spell: Harvesting the Moon

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

Autumn brings the harvest. The full moons of fall used to make it easier to bring in fruits, vegetables, and grains from the field. Now is a good time to celebrate that.

For this esbat, enjoy a feast of fall foods, such as apples, squash, and barley. Ideally, cook your own, but buying it works too. Afterward, step out in the moonlight if you can, or use an image of the full moon over your altar. Focus on lunar energy at its peak. Think of the things you have cultivated in your life this growing season, whether a literal garden or personal projects. Direct the energy of the full moon into those things. Visualize gathering an abundant harvest after all your hard work.

After autumn comes winter, the season of rest. Once you have celebrated the harvest, begin thinking about what you will leave fallow during the cold time.
