Floralia was an ancient Roman festival that was held from April 28 to May 3. It honored Flora, the goddess of flowers. People hosted games and theatrical performances. You can celebrate Floralia alone or with your coven. Plant summer flowers such as daylilies, clematis, sunflowers, or zinnias to honor the goddess. Planting peas or beans— especially sweet peas, grown for their fragrant blooms—promotes fertility. Pick spring flowers like tulips and daffodils to make flower crowns, boutonnières, or wrist corsages. Play games related to blossoms or gardening, such as the card game Lotus, the dice game Bloom, or the board game The Little Flower Shop. A favorite form of divination is to pick flowers, determine a meaning for each one, and blow them across a pool of water. The first to reach the far side indicates the answer to your question. |
