Mary K. Greer, a Llewellyn author specializing in tarot, has been honored by the Association for Tarot Studies with the 2007 International Tarot Award for Lifetime Achievement.
Incorporated in 2003, the Association for Tarot Studies is an Australia-based organization that has members worldwide. Their goal is to stimulate, promote, and foster Tarot studies, history, and usage. The Association for Tarot Studies, in cooperation with other tarot-related organizations including Llewellyn Worldwide, awards not more than once biannually an individual for outstanding contributions to tarot.
Mary K. Greer, author of recently-published Mary K. Greer’s 21 Ways to Read A Tarot Card, was honored with the Association’s 2007 award for her broad and continuing role in guiding the course of tarot today, as exemplified by her teaching and writing. Mary joins the ranks of earlier recipients, including author Eden Gray; publisher Stuart Kaplan of U.S. Games, Inc.; and the creator of Denmark’s Tarot Museum, K. Frank Jensen.
Mary K. Greer’s tarot repertoire includes:
• Forty years of tarot and astrology study and practice
• Eleven years of teaching at the New College of California
• Membership in many Tarot organizations, including the American Tarot Association, the Tarot Guilds of Australia and Aotearoa, Tarot Association of the British Isles, Daughters of Divination, and Aeclectic Tarot.
• Tarot conferences and symposia in the United States and abroad
• Tools and Rites of Transformation (T.A.R.O.T.), of which she is founder and director
• Several best-selling books on the tarot, including Llewellyn publications’ Mary K. Greer’s 21 Ways to Read a Tarot Card, Understanding the Tarot Court, and The Complete Book of Tarot Reversals, as well as Tarot for Your Self.
Mary also has a wide following in the women’s and pagan communities for her work in women’s spirituality and magic. A Priestess-Hierophant in the Fellowship of Isis, she is the founder of the Iseum of Isis Aurea and is author of Women of the Golden Dawn: Rebels and Priestesses.
